Backpack Ministry
Throughout the school year, we provide meals to students at Laurens Elementary School who are identified as need-based. There are many ways you can be involved in this special ministry! There is a set menu for packing each week, which makes it a very simple and easy process!
Order Food & Pick-Up Monthly
Organizational skills and computer skills needed. Count what is currently shelved and make a list of what is needed for the month. The food order is placed at Sam's Club once a month to restock our shelves. Pick-up requires a larger vehicle or truck where many boxes can be loaded. Unloading the food and shelving upon return is also needed.
Order Food & Pick-Up by Semester
We place a food order from Ingles two times per school year. No computer skills are needed. You would coordinate a large order with the Manager on site and arrange for pick-up. Unloading the food and shelving upon return is also needed.
Weekly/Monthly Packing
We have a rotation of weekly packers (which ends up being once per month). There is a set menu each week and you pack exactly what is needed from that menu into shopping bags. You would then deliver bags to Laurens Elementary School midweek so that they are available to distrubute at the end of the week based on their school schedule.
