OVERVIEW OF KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM

Kindergarten begins August 29, 2011 and ends May 18, 2012. We follow the school calendar as set by Laurens District 55 School District for determination of holidays.

Our school day begins with drop-off at 8:45am. Classes start at 9am and pick-up begins at 11:45am and ends at 12pm.

Tuition is due the first of each month. A $10 late fee is applied after the 10th of the month. Checks can be made to FBC- Kindergarten. There is a discount of 25% off tuition for a younger child if you have more than one child enrolled. Tuition is tax deductible.

Children already enrolled in the program and church members are given the first opportunity to register for the next year. Registration is opened to the public to fill available spots after February 14, 2011.

The registration fee is due at the time of enrollment.

Registration fees are non-refundable. Should circumstances keep your child from attending after registration fees are paid, please inform the Director as soon as possible so those on the waiting list may be contacted about open spots.

  GOALS FOR 2K

Our twos attend two days a week. There are two teachers in this class with a maximum of 10 children. There is an emphasis on social skills development but pre-reading and pre-math concepts are taught as well. Sharing and playing with others while learning to communicate personal wants and needs is a big part of this program. Their schedule is flexible and includes indoor and outdoor play, music time, snack, and simple art projects. No child is forced to do anything he is not developmentally ready to do. We gladly work with parents as students become potty trained. Curriculum is based on themes such as farm animals and the 5 senses.

 GOALS FOR 3K

Three year olds attend three days a week. These children are more independent and ready to learn. Fine motor skills (holding a crayon or pencil for example) and gross motor skills (like catching a ball) are taught and practiced in a safe environment. Social skills such as sharing, listening, and helping others are experiences your child will have. Pre-reading and pre-math skills are taught in Center Time as well as during Circle Time. This class has space for 10 children and will be taught by a teacher and an assistant. Curriculum focuses on a letter or a theme of the week and all classroom activities revolve around that letter or theme for the week.

 GOALS FOR 4K

Four year olds may attend three or five days a week. Students must be potty trained to be in this class.  Pre-reading skills and pre-math concepts are emphasized during Circle Time and Center Time. Curriculum focuses on a letter or theme of the week and classroom activities revolve around that letter or theme for the week. Learning builds on concepts taught in 3K. All activities encourage student engagement and involvement. Opportunities are provided to help your child build self esteem and self confidence as he approaches 5K. This class has space for 12 children and will be taught by a teacher and an assistant.

GOALS FOR THE Tuesday/Thursday OPTIONAL  CLASS

Fours desiring 5 days of attendance may enroll in the extra 2 day option. On Tuesdays and Thursdays these children will extend their weekly lessons to reinforce and practice language concepts and math skills taught on MWFs.

MUSIC AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION for 3, 4 and 5 year olds

3Ks and 4Ks will have music taught by a music teacher for 20 minutes each week. Music history, fingerplays, playing various instruments, and singing are some of the things students are learning. The emphasis is on FUN in this class while learning music!

Students like to move and need to move! The physical education class will focus on large motor skills, balance and coordination. Again every child develops at his own pace and no one is forced to do something they are not ready to do. FUN is the key in this class as well.

We at First Baptist Kindergarten are truly honored that you are considering us to be a part of your child’s early years. It is a time of rapid growth and development in your child’s life. We work to help each child learn who they are in God’s image.
