History of Our Church

First Baptist is a church with a rich history. We have gathered in this same spot for the purpose of worship, ministry, missions and fellowship since 1834. After slow beginnings the church began to grow in 1880 with the coming of Rev. John Douglas Pitts. The church has built, renovated and adjusted to it increasing needs. God has blessed this church on the corner of Main and Church St. Central to this church's deep heritage is its focus on worship, life-changing Bible study, and its variety of ministries. Worship is vital to the family of faith at First Baptist Church. Hebrews 10:25 says, "Forsake not the assembling of ourselves together."
